A library devoted to reviving lost graphics

Brooklyn’s Reanimation Library aims to build a collection of books that have fallen out of mainstream use. It privileges “‘outdated’ graphic information over current textual information,” and most of the library’s 530 volumes were produced in or before the 1970s.

Located in Proteus Gowanus, the institution is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 – 6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 6 p.m., and otherwise by appointment. A scanner is available for patrons’ use.

Volunteers, including designers and archivists, are welcome. A searchable catalog is in the works. (Found via Teetotaling — the blog, not the activity.)
