Is this really Simone de Beauvoir? I believe it is, and I wish I knew enough French to translate even part of this clip, in which she seems to be discussing La vieillesse (The Coming of Age).
Also, any progress made yet on an accurate translation into English of The Second Sex? I mean, no rush or anything. It’s only 55 years old.
Updated to add: Lauren Elkin of Maîtresse writes to say that the new translation will — finally — be published by Jonathan Cape in the UK this November and by Knopf in the U.S. next January.
