Sorry guys, no time for posting today. But if you haven’t read Kevin Kinsella’s excellent interview with Anya Ulinich, please do so now.
Alex Lencicki writes in to second the Petropolis recommendation: A few years ago I took a writing class, and on our first day the people from the previous class read. Anya was one of the readers, and her reading — which I think was some random creative writerly style thing, i.e. “name three places you got lost in” or something — was unbelievable. It was so good I felt bad for myself and all the other students, ’cause it was clear she was the kind of blinding talent aspiring writers secretly pretend doesn’t really exist.
I’ve arranged with the author to send a signed copy of the book to the tenth person who emails me at maud [at] maudnewton [dot] com with “Petropolis” in the subject line Mike of Toronto. For now you can read the opening chapter online. Ulinich’s paintings are also worth a look.
