Had a procedure today to correct my moderate heari

Had a procedure today to correct my moderate hearing loss, and my desire to entertain you (or horrify you) by showing all the animals gathered round overrides my desire to present the bedroom as any kind of bastion of tidiness or elegance (which it is not!). The photo isn't posed: I love these friends and despite the fact that they would like more treats I believe they love me too! Maybe it's genetic? (See book for details.)

As for the surgery, so far so good. They inserted a tiny prosthesis in my left ear! So far I am doing *really well*, no dizziness, no tinnitis, no real taste issues. These could come later, but fingers crossed. They did give me general anesthesia but I think it has all worn off. I am only taking advil and tylenol. I will have to take ear drops and an antibiotic for a bit and be careful on stairs for dizziness and not to strain myself/ lift more than three pounds (😒) and no dog walks (😭) for now lest I disturb the prosthesis. (They will be walked, don't worry!) But so far so good.

To make matters even more nourishing and entertaining; @legroff's THE VASTER WILDS arrived today!! Wonderful—and such a consolation for missing her @booksaremagicbk event because of the unexpectedly rapid approach of the surgery last week.💚✨

I was losing my hearing in that ear before I had Covid, but since I had Covid in April 2020 I have constantly felt like I was just off a plane in terms of ear congestion and fullness, and have to ask Max to repeat himself all the time. ("What did you say?? 'Alphabets crystal'?" Reader, he did not say alphabets crystal, of one of ten million examples.) Hearing loss with COVID is debatable, but if this sounds familiar to you, I recommend having a hearing test and looking into conductive hearing loss.
