A recent Harper’s profile cast Barack Obama as a savvy but slick politician prone to triangulation and hobnobbing with lobbyists and “traditional fat-cat donors.”

In today’s Observer, Chris Lehmann gives Obama’s new book, The Audacity of Hope, a more positive reception, saying “Mr. Obama is a political success story — and, before that, a legal one — in large part because he relishes a good argument.”
