Lorin Stein’s translation notes

Last month Lorin Stein, translator of Grégoire Bouillier’s The Mystery Guest, told Phil Campbell that he wanted to start to start a website devoted to his “mistakes and second guesses and rationales,” where readers could submit suggestions and criticisms.

And now, behold: Translator’s Notes.

The passage above appears on the first page of The Mystery Guest. On the blog entry devoted to it, you can see a marked-up page including Stein’s admission that he often consulted Sam Lipsyte’s Home Land, a book he edited, while working on the translation.
