Summer reads

Last week, the Guardian solicited summer reading suggestions from writers, and Sarah Crown at the Guardian’s Culture Vulture blog had the exact same response I did: surely not everyone at the beach is reading, say, the poetry of twelfth century Bulgarian nuns in translation. But they’re not admitting it when the Guardian asks them what they’ll be reading this summer. (I’m sure it’s only because there’s no new Harry Potter out this year.) Or possibly they all are, and I’m the only one with Midnight Marquee Monsters Magazine and the six pack of Lone Star. But somehow I doubt it.

Anyone care to share their summer reading lists? Send yours along to annie at maudnewton dot com, and I’ll see if I can’t find some books of my own amongst the empties.
