Idle remainders

  • Carlos Fuentes, whose latest novel envisions Condoleeza Rice as president, attributes the public’s fascination with the Secretary of State partly to her legs, prompting Deborah Solomon to say he “risk[s] being stoned.” (Via Bookslut.)
  • God help us. Augusten Burroughs has written a fourth memoir. This one is about “being a famous author on a book tour.” (Also covered in the book: fast food restaurants and Burroughs’ apparently blithe racism, “as much a part of my heritage as grits and incest.” I love it when people blame the South for their ignorance.)
