Thirteen writers on faith & reason

Michael Orthofer offers a report on last night’s fascinating Faith & Reason: Writers Speak event at Town Hall, which featured Salman Rushdie, Chinua Achebe, Martin Amis, Gioconda Belli, Roberto Calasso, E. L. Doctorow, David Grossman, Elias Khoury, Yusef Komunyakaa, Zadie Smith, Duong Thu Huong, Ayu Utami, and Jeanette Winterson. Nadine Gordimer was slated to appear, but had to cancel.

I took extensive notes and will try to shape them into something readable later today — probably about the same time PEN makes the podcast available.
