Easy Reader, Letterman, Spellbinder, and 10,000-point type

Due to my father’s deranged racism, I didn’t get to watch much of The Electric Company as a kid. But I was obsessed with what I did see, especially the segments where the sexy man’s lips were on one side of the screen, and the sexy woman’s on the other, and they’d each say half a word and then they’d say it together.

Man’s lips: pu–; Woman’s lips: –sh; Together, slowly: push. Porn for young readers, I tell you.

Andrew Hearst recently picked up the four-DVD Electric Company box set, and he’s posted some great clips and commentary. Did you know Morgan Freeman was Easy Reader (above)? Or that Gene Wilder was one of the show’s main voices?
