The only thing I’m excited about this week is Pandora, an offshoot of the Music Genome Project. I know I’m late to the party; it’s been making the rounds for months.

But, for the uninitiated: Pandora recommends music based on bands you love. I first heard about the site through Number One Hit Song last year, but streaming audio drags down system resources at work and pisses off the IT people (and, when you’re a blogger, you want that whole department to be your best friend), so I didn’t get around to trying it until this weekend.

It’s a good antidote to the overhyped crap people are always recommending. I can stay in a Silver Jews or Clash or 50 Cent (got a problem with that?) universe all day, if I want. Except when I’m at work. Then I just listen to Lucinda Williams’ Happy Woman Blues over, and over, and over again.
