More Pinter responses

This post was written by Friday guest blogger Annie Reid.

  • Why are these Nobel people calling me?
  • Ben Brantley in the NYT on how Pinter’s plays work
  • David Hare applauds the choice
  • Tom Stoppard’s on board as well, but Christopher Hitchens believes it represents a complete degradation of the prize, and chastises Pinter for “anti-American” politics. (Like you’re suprised about that one.)
  • Martin Walker goes so far as to call it the “anti-American Nobel,” likening it to the way Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s Nobel win was perceived as a denunciation of the Soviet Union.
