Hardy homage, in graphic form

Posy Simmonds has undertaken a new Guardian strip, Tamara Drewe, based on Thomas Hardy’s Far From the Madding Crowd. It will be collected in book form next year.

Booklust‘s Patricia Storms calls Simmonds “the cartoonist I most admire, adore and aspire to emulate,” and points to a 2003 interview with the artist. The merits of the new project are under debate in the comments at Drawn. (Last link via the ninjas.)
