White House Gazette

In case you missed it, yesterday Barbara Bush displayed her trademark compassionate conservatism in a visit to the Astrodome:

What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality…. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this — this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them.

Paired with some nauseatingly disingenuous remarks made by the First Father, Mrs. Bush’s comments prompt Holly Martins to ask, “With parents like these, how can you plump in good conscience for intelligent design?”

See also News of a Very Small World, in which Martins suggests the possibility that:

The White House, weary of the malicious falsehoods of the liberal media, now prints its own newspapers. Other sample headlines from last Tuesday’s edition: Baghdad Citizens Endorse Constitution and Personal Retirement Accounts”; “Sean Hannity Win Nobel Prize for Literature”; “Clint Black Coldcocks Seymour Hersh”; and “Texas Rangers Win World Series . . . in August.”
