Timely doggerel

As SubIntSoc notes, Londoners are responding to the terrorist bombings, and to “weepy Americans offering e-hugs,” with collaborative poetry.

Here’s an excerpt:

A cavalcade of cheeky Cockney sweeps
Salutes the flag as bulldogs gently weep
In London’s time of trial your strength will see you through
I visited once, in 1992.

And another:

Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth,
You want how much for a can of Fanta? Please where is Oxford Circus Street shops?

One more:

O London with your famous dreaming spires*
How long until the Daily Mail inquires
How bombs on bus and railway stations (3)
Affect the value of our property

*subs pls check: it is London with the “dreaming spires”, isn’t it?
