Happy weekend

That’s all from me this week. Annie Reid of Vancouver, Canada, takes over most Fridays. If she were stepping in tomorrow, she’d have something to say about this development in my home state. But I think she’s hopped on a plane to go have a little talk with every library official in Hillsborough County. She’ll be back in a couple of weeks. (Never mind her bloodied fists. Hunting accident.)

Speaking of Florida vermin, I just found out that Edward Gorey and my mom have something in common:

A lifelong lover of animals, [cartoonist and author] Gorey famously let raccoons take over the third floor of his home rather than disturb them….

For Mom, it was a different kind of rodent (although they approach the size of raccoons where I grew up).
