Anonymous library card proposal

One of the SubIntSoc boys points me to an interesting proposal, submitted to Slashdot by library science guru Ben Ostrowsky, for getting around the Patriot Act: anonymous library cards.

But the plan would require users to supply collateral before checking out a book — an approach that would undermine the library’s position as a free, public institution.
