Mr. Zadie Smith, who confirms that this label really annoys him, talks to the Belfast Telegraph about his work. When Paul Muldoon, a major influence, is mentioned, I can’t help remembering that Muldoon’s novelist wife recently wrote one of those scourges of Sunday, a NY Times Modern Love column. At least Nick (that’s his name!) doesn’t have to worry about Zadie pulling a stunt like that. Presumably.
