Book blogger cooperative

The LA Times does a nice job of covering the Lit-Blogger Co-op, an endeavor designed to bring attention to “the best of contemporary fiction, authors and presses that are struggling to be noticed in a flooded marketplace.” Many of my favorite book bloggers have signed on.

Since people seem to be speculating, as people evidently will, about my nonparticipation in the project, I should say that family emergencies and various commitments — including my novel-writing pact with Mark Sarvas — prevented my participation. And, on reflection, I felt reluctant to promise uncritical support for books that might not reflect my own, admittedly idiosyncratic, tastes.

But that doesn’t mean I won’t be sure to try every single book the co-op selects.
