Although his staff won’t mention Wolfe’s book if you call up and ask for the President’s reading list, Bush “enthusiastically recommendsI Am Charlotte Simmons, which won a Bad Sex award due to its poorly-written, explicit sex scenes, to his friends.

According to the Times, “Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary, did not respond to phone calls or e-mail messages last week asking about Mr. Bush’s interest in Mr. Wolfe’s book.”

Wonkette begs to differ: “White House aides have all but taken out billboards about this show of intellectual adventurousness.”
