In the Prime

This post was written by Friday blogger Annie Reid.

The list of nominees for the brand spankin’ new International Booker Prize is out, and not too many Brits made the list. The new prize is for living writers who write in English or who are widely translated. Like the Nobel, it commends a body of work rather than a single book. Nominees include Margaret Atwood, Milan Kundera, Gunter Grass, Stanislaw Lem, and Naguib Mahfouz. I was thrilled to see that crafty Muriel Spark on there too.
