New Steinke, suddenly

Steinke's latestI missed last February’s announcement that a new Darcey Steinke novel is on the way. So I nearly swallowed my tongue when I learned — just now — that the book, Milk, appears next month. (Via SF/J.)

Now I need to figure out how to score a loan from the man who says:

Monday night, while reading Darcey Steinke’s new novel, Milk, I missed the Canal Street stop and rode the Q all the way to Dekalb Avenue. I have not done that in so long that I can’t tell you exactly when it was I last did something like that.

Other old Steinke news that’s new to me: she’s working on a memoir, Back to Church, “about this minister’s daughter’s abandonment of and eventual reconciliation with the church.”
