More on the Whitbread — adding insult to injury

The more I read about the Whitbread, the more annoyed I get. Apparently, Hugh Grant was this year’s celebrity judge. He served up the following nugget:

Asked if he felt insulted by critics who argue it is dumbing down to choose celebrity judges for big literary awards, he told Reuters at Tuesday’s awards ceremony: “It is not insulting to me. I am very dumb as everyone knows.”

He may be dumb, but he’s probably not as dumb as former celebrity judge Jerry Hall.

Remind me again why the Whitbread is “prestigious”?
