View from Canada

For the past couple of days, the media up here has been churning out story after story about Americans who plan to move to Canada. Even our tiny (and very crappy) local paper had a gleeful story about a communications professor from Texas who applied for a job as a junior reporter when the paper advertised that position last week. When the managing editor asked her why on earth she’d consider giving up a university position to work for his rag, she told him she couldn’t in good conscience continue to live in a country where Bush was president.

And while this is pretty much a map of my dream country, I have to say that I’m glad that Maud has decided to stay.
