My Brother Den, Space Tourism, and Free Wi-fi for Bloggers

Hi guys, it’s Stephany jumping in here mid-week to make just one quick post about my brother Dennis, who is going to the big Ansari X Prize rocket launch in the Mojave Desert scheduled for September 29. The event is very sci-fi — it’s supported by people like Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Tom Clancy, Tom Hanks, John Glenn, Buzz Aldrin, a couple of descendants of Charles Lindberg, and a host of NASA-type folks. Meant to jumpstart “space tourism,” the X-Prize is a $10 million reward for the first privately funded team to build and launch a spaceship carrying 3 people 100 km into the sky, return it safely to Earth, and repeat the launch with the same ship within 2 weeks.

Apparently there’s a team that’s ready to do just that — and my brother Den’s company, WanderPort, will be there to provide a free wi-fi network at the launch of SpaceShipOne through to the second launch. If any bloggers are attending the launch and want to have a mac address pass-through to make sure they can file, just send Den or his partner Inder an email at Den and Inder will make sure you can post. WanderPort will also be providing a few WISIP phones for free North America phone calls. And if you do end up there, please do say hi to my brother and Inder for me. And to Buzz Aldrin, too, okay?
