Vidal looks for a new place to store 8000 books

Gore Vidal is selling a cliffside villa with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno for roughly $17 million. The 79-year-old author says he’s put the house on the market because, after a recent operation, “I can no longer walk from here to the piazza.”

If it weren’t for his 8,000 books, Vidal says he’d “be in a one-room flat somewhere.” Uh-huh. And if it weren’t for my little lack-of-money-and-talent problem, I’d be living with 8,000 books in an Italian villa.
