Powell manuscripts to remain in Britain

All eighteen original novel typescripts of author (and Terry Teachout favorite) Anthony Powell soon will be available to the public at the British Library. The author had hoped the manuscripts would remain at the Eton College library, but his late widow’s executors sought to reduce a massive inheritance tax burden by donating them to the nation.

The main document collections of Powell contemporaries Graham Greene and Evelyn Waugh were bought up years ago by the University of Texas at Austin.
