ZZ Packer doesn’t hate everyone in Kentucky, only the people she knows

The inimitable ZZ Packer tells Suicide girls that she’s working on a novel. And of her home state she says:

For me I had a tough time growing up in Kentucky and on the other hand it was good for me. But I’m not here to spread propaganda about the state of Kentucky. It’s not to say that I have a problem with everyone in Kentucky because I don’t know them all.

(Via Largehearted Boy, via the Rake.)

If you haven’t read Packer’s Drinking Coffee Elsewhere, particularly if you fancy yourself a connoisseur of Southern literature, be sure to pick it up.
