What Famous People Read

According to the Guardian, Britain’s “prime minister-in-waiting” Gordon Brown is a voracious reader. Check out what’s supposedly on his bedside table. Meanwhile, George Bush has moved on to the third grade reader.

And it’s probably been linked to death but I just discovered it — Oprah has a page devoted to the books celebrities read. (Or to the books their stylists want you to think they read.) Julianna Marguiles likes Grace Paley and Dante. Hillary Clinton enjoys Barbara Kingsolver and Jean M. Auel. Gwyneth Paltrow, Mira Sorvino, Madeleine Albright, Alice Walker, A.S. Byatt, Mona Simpson, Michael Moore, Paula Zahn, Diane Sawyer, J.K. Rowling, and a host of others chime in with their favourites.
