Will your friendly reference librarian one day be replaced by a robot? (Via PFW.)

Update: Says Simon, an information management advisor in New Zealand:

Doubtful. All the robot is doing is replacing a library assistant, someone who shelves books. That’s not really what librarians do. I think reference librarians will be around for a while yet (the head of Google, I believe, said that it would take about another 300 years for AI to get good enough to replace a reference librarian – he thinks we’re still valuable).
