Maybe I’ll try to defuse, rather than diffuse, my hair; with this humidity, anything’s worth a shot

Well, bust my britches.* I’ll be damned if I haven’t been using “diffuse” when I really meant “defuse.” The Guardian helpfully provides a list of other commonly misused homophones.

* Sorry, can’t be helped. I was up until 6 a.m., and got up two-and-a-half hours later, and my grandmother’s expressions just slip out when I’m tired.
