It’s a Frere-Jones world

Tobias Frere-Jones, brother to the redoubtable Sasha (who was blinded by rage upon learning that the Future Soundtrack of America lineup includes songs from R.E.M., Fountains of Wayne, and Death Cab for Cutie), designed the font that will appear on the Freedom Tower cornerstone at the World Trade Center. According to the Times, the font is “distinguished by the uniformity in the width of its strokes and the absence of embellishments like serifs.”
