Celebrating the novella

Melville House Books, a great small press, celebrates the novella by issuing, with simple but attractive designs, classic examples of the form: Anton Chekhov’s My Life, Henry James’ The Lesson of the Master, Leo Tolstoy’s The Devil, and Herman Melville’s Bartleby the Scrivener. The books are $9 US, $13 Canadian, and are hardy enough to stash at the bottom of your bag for emergency subway reading.
