Sale of review copies prohibited in Germany

Yesterday German courts ordered a book reviewer to stop auctioning off his review copies. If U.S. courts enforced the same rule here, how would The Strand, with its piles upon piles of last year’s Pulitzer Prize winners, survive? (Via Moorish Girl.)
