The Chronicle attempts to drive us to our bed

Courtney King turns to Page 9 of the spanking-new book and heaves a satisfied sigh. There it is: her first published work. And she’s only 18.

The Chronicle reports on Waiting to Be Heard, a collection of 39 stories by students of Thurgood Marshall Academic High School. The book was published by 826 Valencia and funded by the Isabel Allende Foundation. Actually, it sounds like a great project (read: I doubt Publishers Weekly will cover this story with the phrase in a very nice deal); and the kids’ teacher, Jesse Madway, sounds like a super trooper.
