Grace Paley is perhaps the greatest living short story writer. She’s also a poet, essayist, and political activist. She opened this year’s Sunken Garden Poetry Festival in Connecticut with her very funny poem, “Responsibility,” which she read in a wry tone that bore no resemblance to the dreaded poetry reading voice.
