Wood Responds to Blogger’s Criticism

Critic James Wood responds to The Reading Experience’s criticism of this excerpt from his new book The Irresponsible Self: On Laughter and the Novel. A snippet:

You are of course entitled to whatever opinions you want about me. But you shouldn’t graze on edited texts (the Guardian ran the introduction to my new book at half the length) and then invert my meaning.

And another:

I know that bloggers do everything at breakneck speed — the hermeneutics of multi-tasking — but you should read people a bit less rapidly, and — hey, what a notion! — think before you write.

Via Beatrice who believes that a complaint from James Wood trumps one from Lauren Slater.
