Writers attend World Economic Forum

Nadine Gordimer, Paul Theroux, Kazuo Ishiguro, Paolo Coelho, Amitav Ghosh, and Homi K. Bhabha were among the writers and scholars attending this year’s World Economic Forum:

Would writers, were they not writers, find work only as cabdrivers — and angry cabdrivers at that? Can the written word somehow soften the sinews of Big Capital?
