It was news to me, but you fine people probably already know that entering someone’s home phone number into Google will return a home address and a map with directions to that address. (Verified at Snopes.)
This development may or may not affect your decision whether to toss your home phone number willy-nilly to the adoring masses.
(I know the information is available on other sites, but I’m a little troubled by the knowledge that it’s so easily obtainable through Google. Almost anyone who blunders onto the Internet–outside of AOL and its “Ask Jeeves” trap–knows Google is the place to look for almost any information imaginable. On the bright side, Google doesn’t reveal the address and name for unpublished numbers. It doesn’t seem to work for cell phone numbers, either.)
