The Cinetrix points to a designer’s observation that Futura was the only font for The Royal Tenenbaums themselves. Other fonts made appearances in the film, though, “usually in connection to someone or something outside the Tenenbaum family and . . . usually Helvetica.” Are other films so “typographically precise?” the Cinetrix wonders.
This reminds me of Aimee Bender’s typeface fiction, in which Helvetica wears vinyl boots and Lucinda saves the world.
