First Photo: Gregory Crewdson’s Untitled on the Aspen Art Museum site.
American photographer Gregory Crewdson creates elaborate photographic tableaux that portray unusual, often fantastic moments of middle-class life. Utilizing a full range of props and settings, Crewdson shoots highly constructed compositions that depict individuals interacting with their often confusing world. Like others of his generation, his work seems to owe a great deal to Hollywood cinema while questioning photography’s traditional role as a recorder of facts.
(Crewdson elsewhere.)
Second Photo: Sally Gall’s Columb D’Oro from the Robert Klein Gallery. There are lots of great photos to browse through on that site.
