Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City was named Britain’s favorite (okay, okay — favourite) gay or lesbian novel, the winner of the Big Gay Read. He edges out Sarah Waters’ Tipping the Velvet and Jeanette Winterson’s Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit.
