Actually, the most captivating blog going is, of course, Where is Raed?, the blog of an Iraqi writing under the pen name Salam Pax. I read something about him once, but now I can’t seem to find it. I think I remember reading that he was trained as an architect. I wonder if I am now officially spreading an internet rumor. Anyway, he works as a translator for the Times, and he’s a gifted and prolific writer. But you know this. What you might not know is that apparently he is now translating Ishtar Talking, a blog from a woman in Basra that reads like a novel. I hope she’ll write more.
There’s an especially chilling entry on Raed today. I hope that guy stays safe.
