On blogs, fanzines, and John Donne

In the eyes of the print culture of his day, John Donne was essentially the equivalent of a blogger, doctoral poetry studies candidate Kevin Kinsella argues:

if fanzines are the grandparents of blogs, then the coterie poets of the Renaissance were their great-great-great-great~ grandparents. Even as the printing press was revolutionizing book culture, there were still some hold-outs, like poets John Donne and Sir Walter Raleigh who circulated their writing among a narrow group of like-minded individuals.
