A few weeks ago, in announcing Lee Siegel’s elevation to the position of TV critic at TNR, we got a little carried away. It is not the case that this magazine has never had a TV critic. Mark Crispin Miller served in that post with distinction and influence between 1979 and 1981. So let us restate our enthusiasm for our current man by saying gladly that his writing fully meets the high standard set by the writing of his predecessor.
Mark Crispin Miller is a media critic and professor at NYU. He wrote Boxed In: The Culture of TV and The Bush Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder, and he is interviewed here about media consolidation.
