Sigmund Freud’s great-granddaughter, Esther, has written a book based on Freud’s fucked-up family legacy. The novel centers on the relationships of Freud’s second son (Esther Freud’s grandfather, to whom she was never introduced) and his wife, and on a modern-day woman whom is disenchanted with her own lover after reading her grandfather’s letters to his wife.
In an interview, the author says, “My grandmother had a very strong feeling that her husband, the second son of Sigmund Freud, should be treated with respect in his own right – not just because he was the son of Sigmund Freud. She said, ‘You’re a wonderful, talented architect, and people should know you for that.'” (Via Bookninja.)
