Musician poets, and whiskey

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo has a poetry chapbook out. (Scroll down at the linked page for excerpts.) Jimmy at the Old Hag’s site is totally open-minded about this.

I understand if you want to stop reading this site now, but I recently listened to Uncle Tupelo’s cover of “Moonshiner” on repeat for a good half-hour:

I’ve been a moonshiner
for seventeen long years
and I spent all my money
on whiskey and beer
and I go to some hollow
and set up my still
if whiskey don’t kill me
Lord, I don’t know what will
