The Confessions of Max Tivoli, first chapter available online

Several others devoured Andrew Sean Greer’s The Confessions of Max Tivoli weeks ago. I still haven’t managed to hunt down a copy at The Strand, but the novel gets a mostly positive critique in the weekend’s Book Review. The reviewer summarizes the plot this way: “born with the appearance of a 70-year-old man, Max must pass his entire existence regressing, with steady, year-by-year regularity, to a state of physiological babyhood.” The first chapter is available online.
