A new book from Alain de Botton, author of The Consolations of Philosophy, will appear in the U.K. next month and in the U.S. in May. The author’s site describes the premise of the book–Status Anxiety—this way:
Every adult life could be said to be defined by two great love stories. The first – the story of our quest for sexual love – is well known and well-charted. The second – the story of our quest for love from the world – is a more secret and shameful tale. And yet this second love story is no less intense than the first.
A three-part documentary based on the book will be broadcast beginning Saturday, March 6th, at 7 p.m. on Channel 4 in the U.K., and in Australia on the ABC starting Sunday, June 20th, at 9:30 p.m.
