Inmate’s prize for writing spurs Commissioner to censor writing students

An inmate won a $25,000 PEN American Center prize for the writing she did in prison. Wally Lamb, a writer and prison creative writing instructor, said that Connecticut prison officials responded to the news of the win by erasing all of the writing produced by fifteen female inmates.
